-Modeling soon led to acting work. Berry proved herself on screen and soon became one of the most popular minority actresses in Hollywood. Spike Lee helped jump-start her career with a role in his popular feature Jungle Feature, which also starred Wesley Snipes and Samuel L. Clark. She appeared briefly on the nighttime soap Knots Landing, and played opposite such veritable Hollywood staples as Eddie Murphy (in Boomerang) and Bruce Willis (in The Last Boy Scout). She made a string of other films, but didn’t receive any serious critical raves until her portrayal of Dorothy Dandridge in the HBO biopic that earned her attention throughout the entertainment industry. (Coincidentally, Berry was born in the same hospital as Dandridge.)<br />+Modeling soon led to acting work. Always an overachiever, Berry has been known to become deeply involved with her acting. For her role in Jungle Fever, she refused to bathe for 10 days in order to get into her character as a crack addict.
