Talented and temperamental, Val Kilmer has created a Marlon Brando-esque reputation for himself in Hollywood. Like his Island of Dr. Moreau co-star, Kilmer has been alternately described as both a genius and a bastard, depending on whom you talk to. There is no doubting his acting talents, and his resume certainly speaks of a performer who can climb right into the skin of his character. This was evident in Kilmer’s portrayal of 60s rock legend Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s The Doors. For critics, audiences and even friends of the former singer, Kilmer and Morrison for a time were practically indistinguishable.
