" Raised with a strict catholic background, Susan Sarandon broke the stereotypical model of good-catholic-school-girl when she made cult status with The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975. Categorized as a sensuous siren with a history of sexual strong woman type roles, Sarandon has conquered the big screen as well as being an advocate for political causes guided by her strong social beliefs.

Sarandon started her career as a model and eventually found an interest in acting when she participated in a college freshman performance. While in school, she met her soon to be husband, Chris Sarandon. Succeeding college, Sarandon found work as a model and with theatres in the Washington D.C area. Eventually, she would move to New York City where she accompanied her husband on an audition for the film Joe (1970). To her surprise, Sarandon received the leading role for the film.
