The little girl with the blazing forehand and awesome backhand, Steffi Graf, started playing tennis at the age of six, and turned professional at the age of 13. It took her three years to win a tournament. This first victory would be against Chris Evert at Hilton Head in 1986. She went on to win her next five consecutive tournaments. Her first Grand Slam victory came when she defeated Martina Navratilova at the 1987 French Open. This victory would begin a remarkable victorious career for three generations.
During her career she's won 22 Grand Slam singles titles, second only to Margaret Court's 24, and 107 WTA Tour singles titles. She spent 377 weeks as the number one player in the world, a record, including an unmatched 186 straight.
