Investment wonderkid Stanley Druckenmiller was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1953. He received a BA in English and economics from Bowdoin College in Maine. Soon after, his career took off.
By the time Druckenmiller was 25, he was the head of equity research at Pittsburgh National Bank. In 1981, a securities-firm executive offered him $10,000 a month just for the chance to talk with him about investments. He quickly realized he was onto something and decided to open his own money management firm, Duquesne Capital. In 1986, Howard Stein, head of the Dreyfus Fund, approached Druckenmiller for work. Soon after he was working for Stein. Quite successful, Druckenmiller was again approached, this time by George Soros of Soros Fund Management LLC, who then hired Drunkenmiller in 1988. Drunkenmiller sits as Chief Investment Officer of Soros Fund Management and manages Soros's Quantum hedge fund.
