Shannon Johnson, the point guard for the Orlando Miracle, plays much bigger than her 5' 7" would suggest. A former member of two-time American Basketball League champion Columbus Quest, Johnson was ranked sixth in the ABL in scoring (15.1. ppg) and eighth in assists (3.9 apg) when the league ceased operations in December.
Johnson was selected by the Miracle as their second allotted player for her athleticism, quickness, good hands and potential. A lightning-fast floor general with a sharp shot and fine set of vocal cords. During the 1999 season, Johnson named to the East team for the inaugural WNBA All-Star Game, played on 7/14/1999. Throughout the 1999 season, she continued success with leading her team in minutes played and dishing out 7.3 assists per game which were tops in the WNBA.
Johnson owns the University of South Carolina school record for career free throws made (478) and attempted (680). She was also inducted into the South Carolina Hall of Fame
Johnson would like to own her own business, possibly a restaurant. She says it will be a signature Shannon Johnson type of restaurant. It will be an "upbeat" kind of place, where' you'll go in and have a great time, but still get full.
