Known as much for his singing ability as he is for his penchant for models, Rod Stewart is one of the most recognizable rock stars recording today. Roderick David Stewart got his musical start in his teens when he joined his first group, the Kool Kats, in the early 1960s. Stewart was an accomplished harmonica player, and it was for this reason that English bluesman Long John Baldrey asked him to join his group the Hoochie Coochie Men in 1964.

The group, which later changed its name to Steampacket, dissolved two years later, after which Stewart joined the group Shotgun Express. Only with this group for a short period, he joined legendary guitarist Jeff Beck in his new Jeff Beck Group in 1967. Stewart sang vocals on the group's first two albums, 1968's Truth and 1969's Beck-Ola before tensions mounted in the band and Stewart left to start a solo career. The Rod Stewart Album, his debut as a soloist, was released later that same year.

Along with recording as a solo artist, Stewart joined guitarist Ron Wood in the new incarnation of the Faces in 1970, and continued singing with them until 1975. Although the group never reached the success that Stewart was having on his own, they did have a hit in 1971 with the song "Stay With Me." After leaving the Faces, Stewart concentrated on his solo efferts, releasing numerous albums from the late '70s into the mid '80s.

Throughout his career, the one time professional soccer player has found himself attatched to various fashion models. He dated Dee Harrington and Britt Ekland during the 1970s, before marrying Alana Stewart in 1979. The couple had two children before divorcing in 1984, and Stewart moved on to another model, Kelly Emberg. This relationship lasted seven years and produced one child before Stewart married 21-year-old Rachel Hunter in 1990. After almost a decade of marriage and two children, the couple seperated in January of 1999. Stewart continues to record and release albums today, his most recent coming in 1998 with the release of When We Were the New Boys.
