Catapulted to stardom in the United States by the playing television’s Bond-esque private eye Remington Steele, Pierce Brendan Brosnan achieved worldwide success as the real thing when he became the fifth actor to play British secret agent 007. Born in Navan, County Meath, Ireland on May 16, 1953, Brosnan moved with his family to London in 1964, where one of the first films he saw was the James Bond feature Goldfinger. Brosnan became a commercial artist after leaving school, but was introduced to acting by a friend. He left his job for the life of an actor and entered the Drama Centre in London, where he studied for three years. His big break came with the 1981 ABC mini-series The Manions of America.

In 1994, Brosnan was unveiled as the new James Bond. Ironically, his Remington Steele role, which brought Brosnan to the attention of Bond producers, had earlier prevented him from playing the secret agent due to his television contract. When ...
