With the release of Austin Powers:The Spy Who Shagged Me, Mike Myers generated a world-wide current of frenzied "shag-adelic" fans.

Born to English immigrants in Scarsborough, Canada, Myers always retained a strong sense of Canadian pride. Growing up, he would watch Peter Seller's movies with his father in the early morning. Myers credits his parents for raising him in a very comedic, humorous environment. He developed his Austin Power's accent through the interaction with his many cousins, who spoke with a "limey" accent. His childhood ambitions were to be either a rock star or a hockey player.

On the last day of high school, Myers auditioned for the vaunted Second City troupe in Toronto. He was accepted immediately and worked with the group for 8 years. In 1989, Myers was hired by Lorne Michaels to write scripts for Saturday Night Live. Eventually, he worked his way to the top and wrote skits and characters for himself. Myers's popularity spread quickly. In 1991, he did a feature spin-off on one of his most popular segments: Wayne's World. It was a blockbuster, raking in over $120 million, but neither the sequel nor his 1993 So I Married An Axe Murderer fared as well.

Following the disappointing results of those two films, Myers decided to take a two year hiatus from his career, during which he traveled extensively. One day while listening to Burt Bacharach, Myers got the inspiration to develop the screenplay for a spoof on campy 1960s spy films and, a few years later, 1997 saw the release of Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. It was a hit, both critically and at the box office. He released 54 in 1998 and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me in the summer of 1999. Myers has several projects coming up, including a cartoon series for Austin Powers and the live action version of the classic cartoon Scooby Doo, in which he plays Shaggy.

Myers currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Robin Ruzan whom he married in 1993.
