Biography
As lead singer of arguably the greatest rock and roll band ever, Mick Jagger has helped define music as we know it. Jagger began playing what would become know as “white-boy” blues in the early ‘60s in England. With his band the Rolling Stones, Jagger covered classic blues songs by such artists as Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon. Towards the end of the ‘60s, the band started to experiment with the psychadelic music stylings of the day. The album, Their Satanic Majesties Request, was in response to the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonley Hearts Club Band album.
As the ‘70s started, the Rolling Stones went back to more pure rock and roll, where they put out hit after hit. During the mid ‘80s and early ‘90s, Jagger released three solo albums which received critical acclaim, yet did not sell very well. After this brief stint, Jagger and the rest of the Stones went back to doing what they do best: recording and touring.
