Matthew David McConaughey was born November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas. He looks like an all-American guy (he was voted Most Handsome in high school) and definitely knows how to sell himself (his favorite book is Og Mandino's Greatest Salesman in the World). With his blond good looks, charm, and charisma, McConaughey took Hollywood by storm, moving into the ranks of the hottest Hollywood hunks with incredible speed.

After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin around 1991, McConaughey landed a few small parts in films such as My Boyfriend's Back and Dazed and Confused (1993). His first claim to fame came with his role in Boys on the Side, in which he played a policeman who falls in love with Drew Barrymore's character. In 1995, McConaughey had been cast in a supporting role (later played by Keifer Sutherland) in John Grisham's A Time To Kill.
