Biography
Kevin Kline has no interest in being a blockbuster movie star, a title which he could have claimed years ago. Kline is very discriminating about his roles, choosing predominantly off-beat projects. Despite his own wishes, Kline’s talents have earned him an Academy Award as well as universal critical praise.
After graduating from Juilliard in 1972, Kline became a member of the Acting Company and through out the 70s worked both on and off-Broadway. His abilities as a stage actor earned him two Tony Awards. His film debut didn’t come until 1982, starring opposite Meryl Streep in the surprise hit Sophie’s Choice. He followed up with a role in the quintesential yuppie film The Big Chill. In 1988, his performance in the runaway comedy hit A Fish Called Wanda finally gave Kline something to put next to those Tony’s: an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. In 1989 he married actress Phoebe Cates and the couple now have two children. They starred together in 1995’s Princess Car...
