Biography
As part of one of the most influential rock bands ever, Keith Richards is considered by many to be one of the greatest white blues musicians to ever pick a guitar. His work with the Rolling Stones over the years, as well as his solo work, has provided a solid body of evidence as testament.
Richards grew up in England, amazed at the music coming out of America by such blues and early rock pioneers as Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, and Elvis Presley. When the Rolling Stones formed in 1962, they mainly played cover songs of old blues standards. They hit it big during the British Invasion of the mid to late ‘60s, along with the Beatles and the Who. Many believe that the Stones’ success was mainly due to the pairing of lead singer Mick Jagger, and guitarist Richards.
