Growing up as a tomboy in Philadelphia, Eve's rise to her current position was quite difficult. She faced many obstacles that threatened her future and somehow overcame many childhood difficulties to become the first female rap star to achieve the highest debuting female rap album in the history of SoundScan.

While Eve was in the third grade, she used her good imagination to win many school merit awards for her short stories, plays and poems. Her troubles didn't seem to start until her parents divorced when she was 12. Eve started doing bad in school and at one time, wasn't even sure that she was going to graduate from high school. Though her mother remarried when she was 14, Eve became bitter and disappointed, and

started working in a New York strip joint just to get away from home. On top of that, she would receive drugs in the mail and distribute it to some of the local dealers. Eve also got involved with local gansters and thugs.

Through the advise of a multi-platinum rap star, Eve quit stripping and joined up as art of the dancing/singing/rapping trio group, Edjp. The group broke up after a few performances and Eve began to persue a solo career under the name Eve of Distruction. She began participating in countless talent shows and performing at clubs and dances and promissed herself that if she wa wasn't signed by the time she turned 21, she would quit. Eve was able to infiltrating the offices of Mchael Lynn—president of Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment—by posing as a narcotics runner. Her freestyle rhyme impressed Lynn enough for him to fly Eve to Los Angeles to cut a demo to present to Dr. Dre, However this didn't pan out and Eve was back at square one. Soon her bad luck changed when a new opportunity in the form of a professional liaison with rapper DMX. She had long admired DMX's work, and Eve jumped at the opportunity to work with Ruff Ryders producer Dame Grease, after meeting DMX at a Los Angeles record signing.

Eve has just recently released her first solo album, First Lady of Ruff Ryders, and is looking forward to beginning her next album in January 2000. She is also involved with a man whom she will not name and can't wait to have a baby with him. Eve has also expressed an interest in doing some acting as long as it's a serious role.
