An icon of feminine charm, beauty, talent and success for the last 40 years, Diana Ross has risen from lead starlet singer of the 60's top band the Supremes to a self-made successful artist and entrepreneur.



Born and raised in the Brewster-Douglas housing projects near Detroit, Michigan, Diane Ernestine Ross was discovered by Motown in 1961 while singing with Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard as the Primettes. The trio, later renamed The Supremes by Motown executive Berry Gordy, Jr., soon became the number one act in America. Songs such as Baby Love, Where Did Our Love Go and Stop! In the Name of Love graced the charts and defined what would become the "sound of Motown". Along with such singers as Smokey Robinson, Mary Wells and Marvin Gaye, The Supremes toured and performed all through the 1960s until Ross' departure from the group in a farewell performance in Las Vegas in 1970.
