David Beckham's Kevo

Strikingly handsome, David Beckham has become a household name in England. This soccer player is hard working, strikes the ball cleanly and with great power, has a wonderful technique and is deadly with free kicks, with a temper to match, and has a reputation for scoring spectacular goals. This along with his marriage to Victoria Adams of the singing group The Spice Girls has made him a favorite among soccer fans.

Beckham made his league debut at home against Leeds United in 1995. His first team debut was two and a half years earlier when he came on as a substitute, 20 minutes from time. Four months later, in January 1993, he turned professional with Manchester United.

His performances in the 1995/1996 season caught the eye of the then England manager Glenn Hoddle, who gave him his full debut on September 1, 1996 against Moldova in Kishinev. Since then, Beckham has provided his fans with some very exciting and memorable moments, which include his scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea in 1996, a superb free kick in the 1998 World Cup Finals and "that goal" from the halfway line in the first game of the 1996/1997 season at Wimbledon.

There was also the 1998 World Cup game that England lost, however. Many of the fans blame the loss on Beckham's temper, which caused him to be sent off for kicking Diego Simeone during England's second-round loss to Argentina at France '98. This left his team one man short for 70 minutes before England finally lost in a penalty shootout. He is still being criticized for this.

It was thought that the World Cup disaster would be the end of Beckham's career, but he came back the next season and played like his old self. In March, 1999, he became a father to Brooklyn, whose name appeared on his shoes when his team completed the dream Treble. In July the same year, David married Adams to complete a great 12-month rehabilitation, which included picking up yet another League and Football Association (FA) Cup Double, and the ultimate European Cup triumph.
