Biography
Cuba Gooding, Jr. is the son of Cuba Gooding, the lead singer in the group the Main Ingredient. This is the group that sang the popular hit “Everybody Plays the Fool.” Gooding, Jr. was born in the Bronx, New York, on January 2, 1968.
The success of Gooding, Sr.’s band was responsible for the family’s to move to Los Angeles when Gooding, Jr. was six. There, the actor and his siblings got a taste of success and wealth. However, the money didn’t last long since Gooding’s father soon left him, his two siblings, and their mother. While Gooding, Sr. enjoyed the fruits of his success, he did not share the wealth with his children -- his child support obligations were not kept current.
Gooding’s mother supported them as best as she could, but the family had to move a number of times, causing Gooding to attend four different high schools. He worked hard at each, though, and was actually elected class president at three of the four high schools. At age 13, Cuba...
