Biography
Cindy Crawford, the first “supermodel” and cover girl of over 400 magazines, has sustained a long and successful career in a notoriously cutthroat business. Brought up a typical midwestern girl, Crawford was valedictorian of her high school graduating class, earning a full scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University. Her modeling career began when she was discovered by a photographer while shucking corn during a high school summer job, and she went on to model in Chicago before attending college. Crawford eventually dropped out of Northwestern after one semester to pursue modeling full time.
Through all her success, Crawford remains a personable, intelligent and engaging personality. Willing to take chances, she has parlayed her beauty and good sense into a fortune, hawking everything from jewelry to cars as well as hosting her own cable show. In recent years, Crawford has taken a shine to acting, but has yet to give a break through performance. Many have failed to make the transition from modeling to acting, most notably Margaux Hemingway.
Crawford has, not surprisingly, been involved with many Hollywood celebrities, most notably Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer and Richard Gere, to whom she was married for several years before their divorce in 1995.
