Cindy Crawford, the first “supermodel” and cover girl of over 400 magazines, has sustained a long and successful career in a notoriously cutthroat business. Brought up a typical midwestern girl, Crawford was valedictorian of her high school graduating class, earning a full scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University. Her modeling career began when she was discovered by a photographer while shucking corn during a high school summer job, and she went on to model in Chicago before attending college.
