Latin America's richest man added more than $6 billion to his fortune this year. He sold off his stakes in MCI and Altria and used the proceeds to up his holding in Saks Inc; in his fixed line operator, Telmex; and in America Movil, his flagship wireless telecom outfit. The latest was a particularly smart move as America Movil's stock has almost doubled in the past year. He also owns 71% of a new public company, Impulsora del Desarollo Economico de America Latina, which he spun off from financial services giant Grupo Financiero Inbursa. Inbursa also invested in a start-up budget airline called Volaris. An art collector, Slim houses his Rodin sculptures in Mexico City's Museo Soumaya, the museum he funded and named after his late wife. His Grupo Carso is reportedly a combination of his first name and his late wife's.
hello, as Carlos Slim's biography, I think its lacks of important events that Slim had been realized in his whole life. Since childhood til nowadays!!!. Also, You dont mention if the 6 billion are pesos or us dollars!

I have read with interest & would liek to know why CARLOS would stump out $40mil. to the BILL GATES charity fund when he can go alone with his own charitable organisation? Gates has jsut as much bt he seems to be "stingy or tight fisted" with his funds in donation compared to other philantropists. CARLOS could easily used this huge amount for the real needy in Mexico despite he has given lots to quite a "population" of the needy.

I'm trying to find more information regarding Mr Slim investment in this new telecomunication company "LPC GLOBAL", my concern is if he really invested or not? did any body have usefull information?
regarding Slim's investment in lpc - i think it is a mere rumor created by the "inside people" in lpc, simply to create more of a sensation about what they are trying to do. The problem with lpc is that they have been hyping people with sensationalism for about 1 year now - and all they have delivered are broken promises, false satements, etc. Even if they were able to actually "open business" at some date in the future, I would be leary as to joining them. If they acted as dishonestly and unethically as they have for their first year of "pre-launch", do you really think they will behave differently once they actually launch their business - that is, if they ever do launch ?
