"It is weird when your parents are famous," says Ben Stiller, who was born to the husband-wife comedy team of Stiller and Meara. Stiller grew up on Manhattan's Upper West Side, thoroughly immersed in the entertainment lifestyle of his parents.
At age ten, Stiller started making 8mm epics in which he surreptitiously got even with the schoolyard bullies who tormented him. His revenge-ridden pre-pubescent masterpieces donned such titles as They Called It Murder and Murder in the Park. After attending UCLA for nine months, Stiller decided that college life was not for him and moved back home to New York. While acting in a Broadway revival of John Guare's The House of Blue Leaves, Stiller continued to make comedic short films. One in particular that Stiller produced was a parody of "The Color of Money" entitled "The Hustler of Money," starring John Mahoney.
