Upon her sister's advice, actress/singer Ashley Judd headed to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career when she was in her mid-20s. Judd quickly landed both an agent and a small role in the 1992 Christian Slater film Kuffs. The next year she gained widespread notoriety as well as critical praise by earning an Independent Spirit Award for Ruby in Paradise.
